Michael Mills- October 2015 cohort

I was told about the Hospital Experience for Community Pharmacists course by a hospital pharmacist friend of mine. I had been previously working as a community pharmacist and had been deciding upon which direction I wanted to take my career. I undertook the course and was pleased with the training and support provided by the hospital staff as well as Stream Pharmaceuticals. My clinical skills have improved and they continue to improve in the hospital pharmacist role that I successfully applied for following the course. I now work as a clinical pharmacist in Lincolnshire and would thoroughly recommend the course to other community pharmacists wanting to make this transition.

The Hospital Experience for Community Pharmacists course was recommended to me by a friend. It has been absolutely valuable in opening doors for me in the hospital sector. During the hospital placement, I thoroughly enjoyed my rotation in Cardiology. This rotation was extremely challenging, yet the staff were very supportive. This positive environment gave me confidence to develop my knowledge further in this area and even utilise it to make clinical interventions when I undertake occasional locums in the community. I have successfully secured a place as a bank clinical pharmacist and this has given me a platform to develop my career further. I’m extremely grateful to Stream Pharmaceuticals for giving me this opportunity and for the extensive support and encouragement they gave me during the course.

One of the most important decisions I made in my career was the decision to move from community pharmacy to hospital pharmacy. Despite having extensive experience in conducting clinical services in the community pharmacy environment as well as having an independent prescribing qualification, I was unable to advance in the direction of a rewarding career path. I decided that I needed to gain some hospital pharmacy experience. However, this proved challenging because even requests to undertake voluntary unpaid work in the hospital sector in the hope of gaining some experience were turned down. Colleagues then advised me to undertake a clinical diploma but the clinical diploma I would have wanted to do would have required me to be working within a hospital environment. A friend recommended the Hospital Experience for Community Pharmacists course being run by Stream Pharmaceuticals. I undertook this course and was delighted at how it enabled me to make a smooth transition from the community sector to the hospital sector. This course has helped to create a solid foundations upon which I now hope to build a successful career in hospital pharmacy.

Lee Karim- May 2016 cohort

As a result of undertaking the Hospital Experience for Community Pharmacists course with Stream Pharmaceuticals, I was recently able to make the transition from being a community pharmacist to being a band 7 hospital pharmacist. I had been wanting to make the move from community pharmacy to hospital pharmacy but had been unaware of how to do it. What I did know was that entry level hospital pharmacist roles usually require prior hospital experience, of which I had none. The course involved completing a one week placement in a hospital environment and following the course materials provided by Stream Pharmaceuticals. I am really glad to have undertaken this course with Stream Pharmaceuticals. I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at St Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth and as a result of completing this unique course, I was successful in applying to be a band 7 Clinical Pharmacist in the hospital in Oxford. I do recommend this Hospital Experience for Community Pharmacists course to other community pharmacists wanting to make the transition to hospital pharmacy. It will be the best move they will ever make.

Thank you

I had worked in the retail pharmacy sector for a while. Then, I decided to move into hospital practice. All attempts to get a position as a Clinical Pharmacist was futile and frustrating until a friend told me about StreamPharma. While on the course, I was invited to attend at least four interviews for full-time permanent posts which ultimately landed me a rewarding job. Based on my experience and testimonial, I would recommend StreamPharma. Their staff are helpful and supportive before, during and after participating in the course.
