This hospital programme has been developed to facilitate community pharmacists in gaining access to career opportunities within hospital pharmacy. The programme has been designed to take a community pharmacist through a set of structured activities as detailed in the programme’s workbook entitled “Introduction to Hospital Practice for Community Pharmacists”. This workbook is provided during the induction. The activities focus on clarifying and distinguishing characteristics of hospital pharmacy practice. They will also help community pharmacists to develop the fundamental skills necessary to practise effectively within the hospital pharmacy setting.

Requirements
- Current GPhC registration and indemnity insurance confirmation
- Minimum two years work experience in community pharmacy
- Up-to-date vaccinations: Varicella, MMR, BCG, and Hepatitis B (you can get the vaccination confirmation from your GP)
- Cross sector experience to support hospital career / job interviews
- Must be available to attend for a specified period of three weeks which will include hospital placement and workshops at our designated university partnership locations
Delivery Schedule
- The programme begins with three clinical teaching sessions (held on three consecutive saturdays in Brighton), followed by one week (Monday to Friday) of practical experience in the hospital setting. The hospital placement dates will be organised with trainees during the clinical teaching sessions.
- In view of the high demand for this programme, we are currently only able to accommodate 20 participants per cohort
- All participants must attend an induction prior to a hospital allocation being made.
Fees
- This is a self-funded programme : Fees £985
- This fee is discounted because of part funding support via Stream
- Pharmaceutical UK and the collaborating partners.
- Fees will not be accepted until we can confirm your space on this training scheme
Obligations
- During the training, full attendance is expected
- Participants are expected to follow hospital policy and procedure throughout your placement
- Participants are expected to complete all set work in a timely manner
- You may be expected to wear a uniform
- Professional integrity must be maintained at all times
